Philadelphia Eagles running back Saquon Barkley on Monday fired back at anyone criticizing him for spending time with President Trump.
Barkley was photographed with Trump in New Jersey on Sunday after apparently going on a golf outing with the president.
“lol some people are really upset cause I played golfed and flew to the White House with the PRESIDENT. Maybe I just respect the office, not a hard concept to understand,” the NFL star said in a post on the social platform X.
“Just golfed with Obama not too long ago…and look forward to finishing my round with Trump ! Now ya get out my mentions with all this politics and have amazing day,” he added.
Barkley and the Eagles are set to go to the White House on Monday, following their Super Bowl victory earlier this year.
Barkley on Sunday got out of a helicopter with the president, walking and talking alongside Trump, with the president seeming to give him a pat on the back. Trump also told reporters Barkley is “a nice guy.”
“I wanted to race him, but I decided not to do it,” the president said.
The Eagles player also appeared to be taking pictures with the president Sunday at the White House.
Trump was in attendance at this year’s Super Bowl and picked the Kansas City Chiefs to win against the Eagles, but he said he was “a big fan of both teams.”
Prior to the Super Bowl, he also called Barkley “one of the best running backs,” also calling his teammate Jalen Hurts “a great quarterback.”
